Segments 1-4

So my sister Kristen had this idea for a podcast and we thought we’d try it out this week since Rex couldn’t be with us for Write On SC. The concept is “did you know?” and it should be series of things each of us does know and can share. We could also eventually bring on guests to share their expertise, too. The idea is for us to introduce one another (and listeners) to sources of information they may not have discovered otherwise.

Like most of my broadcast work, this is a curated show. Meaning we’ll be drawing on other resources and providing links to those sources. We’ll also share some of our own expertise in our domains of professional practice. So I thought for this pilot episode’s notes, I’d include our LinkedIn bios so you know what those domains are.

Dr. Kasie Whitener is Founder of Clemson Road Creative, a management consulting company, and Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of South Carolina teaching strategic management and entrepreneurship. She was named a 2021 Fresh Voice in the Humanities by the Governor of South Carolina for her work on the radio show “Write On, SC” and with the South Carolina Writers’ Association. She is the author of two novels: After December (Chrysalis Press 2019) and Before Pittsburgh (2021) and two academic texts Practical Entrepreneurism (Great River Learning, 2020) and Strategic Management (Kendall Hunt, 2021). She co-authored the nonfiction manual Redesign Work Volume 1: A Beginner’s Guide to Autonomy (Clemson Road Publishing 2020). She is a member of South Carolina Humanities Speakers Bureau, and has delivered workshops for the Pat Conroy Literary Center, Richland Library, and Fairfax County Library, among others.

Kristen Tiede is an experienced entrepreneur with a passion for designing, implementing and expanding telehealth programs. Her goal is to enable and support healthcare organizations by building scalable telehealth programs that combine cutting edge technology with proven best practices, maximizing clinical resource efficiency while providing the highest quality of individualized care. She has been VP of Strategic Partnerships, Senior Director of Healthcare Solutions, Senior Sales Consultant, and Founder and President of KJ Solutions, her own remote healthcare operations consulting firm. Kristen graduated from George Mason University with a degree in communications.

So what about these Did You Knows?

We plan to start with some headlines. What’s in your inbox? Listeners to the daily Mornings with Kasie and Kev know I subscribe to The Morning Brew and 1440. These email newsletters often provide topics for Kev and me on weekdays. Kristen is an avid podcast listener so she’ll share what she’s been consuming on that front.

Then we’ll look at some of our professional work and share expertise in that arena. Could be a continuation of headlines topics or might be something totally new.

Finally, we’ll share personal history. We’re sisters who are living together again for the first time since 1995. There’s a lot of ground to cover. Experiences we had when we were living in separate worlds. So this segment is to reconnect on that stuff.

Hope you’ll enjoy! Leave us comments or tweet at us @WriteOnSC and @KasieWhitener and @KTiede20 and let us know what you think.
